Rooms equipped with every comfort, restaurants, bars, private rooms, spas, libraries, boutiques and much more. Public Hotel, CitizenM Bowery and Moxy Chelsea are some of the coolest hotels in New York!
If you are going to New York for the Design Week, NYCxDesign and ICFF, here you can find some hotels in New York characterized by good design.
Public Hotel
Ian Schrager, the hotelier renowned for the best high-end design hotels in the world, signs a jewel of hospitality, simple and refined, that, under the banner “luxury for all” offers excellent services at reasonable prices
The rooms, characterized by clean and minimal shapes, are divided into sleeping, relaxation, work and entertainment areas. Each room is equipped with all the comforts thanks to the technology that allow the guesta to have everything at their fingertips with minimal effort.
The hotel’s food and beverage areas are characterized by modern and cozy atmospheres, thanks to the interior design and the breathtaking view.
The Public Hotel also offers some shopping opportunity. In the boutique you can choose from a wide selection of unique products that are not available at other shops.
CitizenM Hotels New York Bowery
Located in the tallest building of the Lower East Side, CitizenM Bowery (owned by the Dutch brand CitizenM) is the world’s tallest modular hotel, being over 74 m high.
There are 300 rooms available, spread over 19 floors, compact and comfortable, with king size beds, dream showers and large windows that allow you to enjoy a view of New York.
The CitizenM Bowery Hotel is furnished with an eclectic mix of contemporary art, photographs and objects made by local artists.
The external façade is characterized by Christelle de Castro’s Citizens of the Bowery: a permanent installation in which 180 black and white portraits of the inhabitants of the area “look out” of the 180 windows. A celebration of the city and its diversity.
For a drink with a 360-degree view of Manhattan there is the large terrace bar on the 21st floor, the cloudM rooftop bar.
The basement of the hotel, with double height ceilings, hosts the library and the canteenM, open 24/7.
Moxy Chelsea
Since March 2019, the heart of the Chelsea Flower Market hosts a hotel that pays tribute to the Flower District: Moxy Chelsea, of the Moxy Hotels chain owned by Marriott International.
Refined and fun, Moxy Chelsea reinvents a urban jungle through botanically-inspired design with an Italian touch, expressed by the gastronomic proposals entrusted to the world-renowned restaurateur Francesco Panella (owner of Antica Pesa, the legendary trattoria based in Rome and Brooklyn).
At the entrance of the hotel, at street level, is the exclusive Putnam & Putnam Flower Shop, a “botanical library” with lush flower boxes suspended on a 4 m wall.
Just beyond the flower shop, the sign “MEET / GREET” invites guests to reach the reception desk. Check-in desks feature four butcher’s tables suspended from the 3 m high ceiling, a reference to the nearby Meatpacking District.
On the second floor is the lobby, designed by Rockwell Group. A space where you can relax, socialize or work, thanks to different multipurpose areas that change depending on the time of the day. In the evening, the Conservatory, the lobby atrium, becomes a sophisticated cocktail lounge.
At the Moxy Hotel you will also find the bar, restaurant and café of the Italian brand Feroce: dishes on the menu are prepared with Italian products.
On the 35th floor, you will find the Fleur Room, the rooftop lounge with 360-degree panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline, with glass walls that, once lowered, transform the lounge into an open-air veranda.
The 349 rooms of the Moxy Hotel, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, offer innovative design solutions aimed at making the most of the space. In all three room types (King, Double / Double and Quad Bunk), furniture, including a desk and a suitcase chair, can be folded up and hung when not in use.
The exuberant Mondo Suite, located on the 32nd floor with 5 m high ceilings and an industrial-style window, overlooks the Empire State Building. [Text Carlotta Russo]
