The tribute to Rodolfo Dordoni

During the event, Rodolfo Dordoni, who passed away last August, was remembered with a heartfelt tribute. The memorial to one of the most valued interpreters of Made in Italy design was entrusted to his own words, which fully express the idea of design that inspires the Archiproducts Design Awards. Not only pure aesthetics but, above all, the art of transformation:

“Only time has the power to change my perception or approach to beauty or a project. Only with time will we be able to understand the evolution or change that is required to answer today’s new demands.”

Speaking on behalf of the jury, Gabriele Chiave, VP of Creative Direction – Design & Innovation for the Estée Lauder Group, shared his thoughts:

“I always like to remind myself that we design with people for people. Our creations should strive to make a positive impact on people’s lives and contribute to a better world, placing social and sustainable responsibility at the forefront. My wish for the design world today is to take a step back from the fast pace of our lives. Design requires the right amount of time for thoughtful consideration and execution. When a project is given the proper time for maturation, it results in a superior product in terms of design and durability. This approach also contributes to sustainability by creating products that can be cherished and passed down through generations. Let’s strive for a ‘less AND more’ culture: less products and more quality.”

The Sustainability Award at the Archiproducts Design Awards 2023

The Archiproducts Design Awards launched a new award: the Sustainability Award. Its trophy was designed by AMDL CIRCLE and manufactured by Riva 1920 in fragrant cedar of Lebanon. The prize was given to the brands that best apply circular economy and sustainable design principles to their work.

Installations and participating brands

Displayed in the former Superstudio industrial space, a collective installation shows a selection of the winning products. Students from the Nuova Accademia di Bella Arti di Milano (NABA) guided guests through the products displayed like works of art, sharing their stories and backgrounds.

The winning brand received the icon/trophy designed by the Spanish duo MUT Design and produced by De Castelli for this edition in the DeDarié finish. Moreover, the designers of the winning products received a trophy by Salvatori, designed by Michael Anastassiades: a marble monolith that, for this edition, was made in Grigio Versilia.

An award for the jury

The Archiproducts Design Awards 2023 jurors received special recognition for their important contribution to the complex evaluation of the submissions. A mini-architecture, the “Jury Seal” is a precious miniature stainless steel archetypical house, designed and produced in collaboration with Ceadesign in the unusual Black Ivory finish, exclusively for this edition.

The panel included Giovanna Castiglione Curator @Studio Museum of Achille Castiglioni and Vice President @ Achille Castiglioni Foundation
