When the Prancing Horse Takes Flight: Ferrari Hypersail Conquers the Sea

Extreme design, “Giallo Fly” soul, and Hypercar technology: the new frontier of ocean sailing debuts at Milan Design Week

The roar of engines gives way to the whistle of the wind, but the DNA remains the same. On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, Ferrari has unveiled the livery of Hypersail, its first 100-foot ocean monohull. Don’t just call it a boat: it is an innovation platform where racetrack aerodynamics meet the power of the oceans.

When Asphalt Meets the Ocean

The Hypersail project was born from an unprecedented synergy between the Ferrari Design Studio, led by Flavio Manzoni, and the naval engineering team. The goal? To bring the aesthetic spirit that makes Ferrari cars unique to the sea.

The lines are not merely an aesthetic flourish: every volume is a direct response to the forces of wind and water. The streamlined silhouette recalls the purity of the Monza SP1, while the deck’s superstructure is inspired by the graphics of the 499P, the Le Mans-winning Hypercar.

Giallo Fly: The Prancing Horse’s Second Soul

The true visual protagonist is the livery. For this nautical debut, Giallo Fly was chosen—a shade that historically represents the brand’s “second soul.” The contrast with the carbon fiber’s Grigio Hypersail is not just a style choice, but a nod to the design codes of the legendary 512 BB.

The “Fly” in the color’s name also creates a perfect linguistic link with the “foiling” nature of the vessel, which is literally designed to fly over the waves thanks to sophisticated control systems derived from the automotive world.

Sustainable Innovation on Deck

Beyond beauty, there is significant technological substance. The deck and hull sides integrate walkable solar panels, designed to ensure maximum freedom of movement for the crew while powering on-board systems with renewable energy. It is the perfect synthesis of extreme engineering and respect for the marine environment.

Where to See it in Milan

If you are in Milan for Design Week (April 22–26), do not miss the exhibition path at the Ferrari Flagship Store. However, the real show-stopper is on the HIGHLINE Milano terrace, right in front of Piazza del Duomo, where the “lighthouse-installation” stands: an exclusive sculpture that transforms Hypersail into a new symbol of inspiration for the future of offshore technology.
