Last September, the Dubai World Trade Centre hosted the Middle East Design & Hospitality Week (MEDHW), the most important design and hospitality fair of the Middle East.

The event, consisting in the trade shows INDEX, Workspace, Surface Design, The Hotel Show, The Leisure Show and FIM, successfully welcomed over 35,000 visitors from over 110 countries. Industry professionals could discover new design and hospitality trends thanks to a rich program of talks and exhibitions.

The winners of the competitions of The Hotel Show 2019
The Hotel Show hosted the competition The Chefs Table. Eleven teams of seven people reproduced the complete experience that a diner has from the moment he or she steps into a restaurant. Participants were judged on hygiene, cooking skills, creativity, taste. Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Deira Creek was awarded the gold metal as the overall champion of the competition.

46 housekeeping teams took part in The Hotel Show competing for the Best Housekeeping Team at the third Middle East Housekeepers League of Champions, sponsored by Restonic. The team of the Al Manzil Downtown Hotel ranked first.

Three architectural and interior design studios from the Emirates created concepts for hotel rooms based on the theme ‘Dubai: A World of Possibility, A Lifetime of Stories’. Visitors to the event then voted for their favourite. Godwin Austen Johnson received more than 50% of the votes, winning the Gensler and STYLIS NSG studios.

The best soft drinks in 3 minutes
ICCA Dubai, International Centre for Culinary Arts, in collaboration with Alembic-Liquid Education Experience, presented for the first time at the Hotel Show an exciting competition that tested the skills of professional barmen. Participants had three minutes to prepare their specialty ‘alcohol-free’ drinks. Roman Tanasiev from the Conrad hotel in Dubai secured first place in the ‘Outdoor Pool & Garden’ category, Cedrick Anthony from Luigia restaurant ranked first in the ‘Aperitif’ category and Rich Mar Mostar of KIM’S Singapore Seafood won in the ‘Food Friendly’ category.

INDEX, GCC’s leading interior design event along with Danube Home, awarded Bishop Design, A2Q Group and Sharon Jutla in the categories Best Commercial project, Best Residential project and Interior designer of the year, respectively.
