Menuale Real Estate has renovated two apartments of 50 and 70 square meters in the area of Scalo Romana, in Milan, the area where Fondazione Prada stands. The interior design is inspired by the colors and architectural tradition of the city of Chefchaouen, the blue pearl of Morocco.

SouPra, a district in continuous transformation

SouPra is the name by which Milan’s district surrounding Fondazione Prada, formerly known as Scalo Romana, is now known. The former industrial area, which went through periods of almost total abandonment, has undergone a slow and gradual transformation and redevelopment process over the years. And this urban district is currently one of the most interesting in Milan.

Thanks to the open-mindedness of the new generations of foreigners who have grown up in this district, Scalo Romana has become a district with an international spirit, full of artists’ studios and cultural spaces, which attract not only art and architecture, but also cinema, fashion and music.

The many companies that have decided to open their headquarters in this district have contributed to renovating the face of the new district with contemporary glass and steel buildings. Recently renamed SouPra, due to the presence of Fondazione Prada, this district will also host the Olympic Village of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

Chez Chaouen: the project

The two apartments in the Scalo Romana area, very close to Fondazione Prada, in Milan, are inspired by the architectural tradition of Chefchaouen, a city in Morocco where all houses are painted blue.

In the two apartments, the use of blue in all its nuances evokes the distinctive trait of the Moroccan city. Menuale Reale Estate has combined European design with the architectural tradition of Chefchaouen. The use of Eastern and Western colors, finishes and furniture elements shows how these two worlds can coexist in harmony.

Contemporary art in the project of Chez Chaouen

Menuale Real Estate entrusted Wem – empowering art platform – with the choice of artworks to personalize the spaces of the two apartments. Wem is a young startup that supports the dissemination of contemporary art through the promotion of works of art by emerging artists.

The sculptures exhibited in the two houses are by contemporary artist Daniele Sigalot. A portrait of you is a sheet of polished steel reproducing the image of a kaleidoscope. Clearly not a paper plane are aluminum sculptures reproducing one of the main symbols of childhood.
