Dutch architecture is the topic of the new online meeting in “The Contribution of Women in Contemporary Architecture” series to be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022, 6:00-8:00 pm
The Contribution of Women in Contemporary Architecture is the title of the series of meetings curated by Arianna Callocchia and promoted by the Foundation of the Order of Architects of the Province of Milan. The goal of these conferences is to show the role and the importance of women in contemporary architecture.
The first eight meetings were held in October 2020 (Swiss and Finnish examples), February 2021 (British and Danish examples), November 2021 (Spanish and Chilean examples) and in March 2022 (Austrian and Canadian examples). The cycle continues with a meeting dedicated to Dutch architecture (Thursday, November 3, 2022, 6:00-8:00 pm) and Japanese architecture (November 24).
The role of women in Dutch architecture
During the online meeting to be held on Thursday, November 3, The Contribution of Women in Contemporary Architecture: The Dutch Example, Dutch architects will illustrate some projects recently completed in the Netherlands. The speakers will present their approach and their design philosophy in contemporary architecture with respect to environmental sustainability, circular economy, technological innovation, renovation of historical buildings, urban redevelopment, the relationship with the territory.
The conference will start with welcome remarks by Bianca Miglietta, Councilor of the Order and Foundation of the Order of Architects of the Province of Milan, and Mascha Baak, Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Milan. Then, the floor will be given to Caro van de Venne, BARCODE Architects (Rotterdam), and Lisa van der Slot, De Zwarte Hond (Rotterdam). Caro van de Venne will illustrate some projects in the Netherlands, focusing on the city of the future, the place where it’s possible to connect the different segments of our cultural society. On the other hand, Lisa van der Slot will present a selection of projects by De Zwarte Hond, who develop their projects in a different way depending on their scale – from the city down to the detail. Giulia Setti, DAStU, Politecnico di Milano, will moderate the meeting.
The conference is organised with the Patronage of the Order of Architects of the Province of Milan, the Italian Council of Architects and the Embassy and Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
