Maison&Objet returns January 19-23, 2023, with Generation Z and “Take Care” as general theme
Refocus, regroup, indulge your senses, reconnect with your inner self, with others and with the environment. Maison&Objet returns from January 19 to 23, 2023, and the overall theme of this edition will be “Take Care”. Taking care is something that has become a real necessity in an age when we are all actively seeking meaning and tranquility. Taking care, for the design on show at Maison&Objet, will mean being beautiful and good. “Today, a new set of ethics are dictating the type of consumer activity we are seeing”, explains Vincent Grégoire, Creative Director at the NellyRodi design consultancy.
The trade fair has been adopting an increasingly responsible approach. Maison&Objet is recycling 50% of waste, using more and more LEDs, reusing old signage. For the 2023 edition. it is also sourcing water locally and turning down the heating. In addition to M&O’s eco-friendlier approach, exhibiting companies are also increasingly sensitive to sustainability issues.

Noma Editions, for example, is a French design house that works solely with recycled materials. Or la Ciergerie des Prémontrés, which perpetuates the traditional expertise inherited from the Pères blancs monks at l’Abbaye des Prémontrés. Other good examples would be Care by me, the Danish brand that designs soft and warm clothing ranges and accessories, or Laines Paysannes, whose rugs are crafted solely from locally sourced materials.
Rising Talents
With each edition, Maison&Objet celebrates new design talents from various international backgrounds. For January 2023, seven Spanish talents selected by leading design personalities will be in the spotlight. These new talents are particularly representative of the new, socially conscious generation. Their creations reflect the widespread desire to care for the world around us.

Designer of the year: Raphael Navot
As with each show, Maison&Objet will announce a Designer of the Year also for January 2023. This edition’s recipient of the award is Raphael Navot, multidisciplinary interior designer. Born in Jerusalem (Israel) in 1977, Raphael Navot graduated from Design Academy Eindhoven, after which he started his studio in Paris. His portfolio is a rich spread of multidisciplinary projects that showcase French craftsmanship and skill, ranging from examples of hospitality interiors to product design.
He worked with David Lynch on the Parisian nightclub Silencio (2011), collaborated on the production of a highly technical line of end-grain flooring for Oscar Ono (2016), and created a complete furniture collection for the living area for Roche Bobois (2018).

He also collaborates with New York-based Friedman Benda Gallery, for which he recently designed “On the Same Subject”. In addition to the Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers (2017), and the Hotel Belle Plage, Cannes, Navot designed the Hotel Dame des Arts, which is opening in Paris in 2023.
