Design, art, fashion: here are the must-see exhibitions before the Salone del Mobile 2024
A short reminder of not-to-be-missed initiatives to be held in the coming months ahead of the long-awaited Salone del Mobile 2024, scheduled for April 16-21.

The unmissable events at the ADI Design Museum
In Milan, in the year of the 2024 Compasso d’Oro Award, the ADI Design Museum is showcasing an exhibition on Japanese design, opening March 8. Please visit http://adidesignmuseum.org for further information.
‘Carissimo Pinocchio’, the exhibition curated by Giulio Iacchetti continues until February 4, while ‘L’eterno in divenire di Roberto Rocchi’, curated by Paolo Asti, with critical text by Angelo Crespi, is running until February 13.
January 30 will be the last day to visit ‘La Collezione Lopresto – storia del car design e restauro dell’auto d’epoca’. On weekends Jan. 13/14 and Jan. 27/28, it will also be possible to participate in two workshops titled ‘Nel paese dei balocchi’, organized by Junior Design Lab.
The book ‘Abitare le Alpi. Interni progettati da Francesca Neri Antonello’ will be presented on January 16. On Monday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m., there will be the third appointment of ‘Ascoltare il design’, curated by Alessandro Colombo, Valentina Fisichella and Simone Libraion, with Luciano Galimberti and Fabio Cirifino. On January 23 at 11 a.m. Lina Sotis and Marco Predari will present ‘Quattrozampeinfiera 2024’ to the press. Lastly, on January 25 there will be a charity event with Rene e Bambino nel Mondo Onlus, for the children of Nicaragua.
In Hong Kong, the New Collective Landscape of young Italian design talents lands at HKDI Gallery from January 19 to May 19. After that, it will continue its world tour with various stops and itineraries.
On the other hand, the exhibition ‘Compasso d’Oro Award: Seventy Years Leading Italian Design Trends’, by ADI Design Museum and Treccani, curated by Francesca Balena Arista, Giovanni Comoglio, Maite García Sanchis with Min Ling and exhibition design by Aldo Cibic, concludes in Shanghai, at Bund 18, on February 25.
Other events you can’t miss
Triennale Milano, from January 27 to April 1, 2024, will present a retrospective dedicated to Juergen Teller, while, starting on April 13, it will host the exhibition dedicated to Alessandro Mendini, curated by Fulvio Irace, in collaboration with Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain.
At the Fondazione Luigi Rovati, gold, terracotta and bronze are the protagonists of the exhibition Etruscan Treasures. The Castellani Collection Between History and Fashion. Visible until March 3, 2024, the exhibition, organized in collaboration with the National Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia, received the Medal of Representation of the President of the Italian Republic.
Oro bianco. Tre secoli di porcellane Ginori is the title the exhibition that Museo Poldi Pezzoli and Museo Ginori are presenting until February 19, 2024. It features selection of the most important works made by the Ginori Manufactory between the 18th and 20th centuries. Historic pieces preserved in several Italian and European museums, as well as at Poldi Pezzoli and Museo Ginori, currently closed for renovation. .
Yayoi Kusama, the world’s most popular artist in Bergamo
Until March 24, 2024, Palazzo della Regione in Bergamo will host an exhibition of Yayoi Kusama, the world’s most popular artist according to a survey conducted by the prestigious magazine The Art Newspaper. Kusama will bring to the heart of the city Fireflies on the Water, one of her most iconic Infinity Mirror Rooms from the collection of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. The initiative, promoted by The Blank Contemporary Art and the City of Bergamo, is curated by Stefano Raimondi.

Unmissable events in Venice
To celebrate the centenary of the birth of the great Venetian composer Luigi Nono (January 29, 1924), La Biennale di Venezia presents a Special Project of the Historical Archives of Contemporary Arts (ASAC) with the opera Prometeo. Tragedia dell’ascolto by Luigi Nono. The opera produced by the Music Biennale in 1984 will be staged January 26-29, 2024 at the Church of San Lorenzo, now Ocean Space / TBA21–Academy.
From April 14, LE STANZE DEL VETRO, Fondazione Giorgio Cini, host ‘Il vetro di Murano e la Biennale di Venezia dal 1912 al 1930’, curated by Marino Barovier.
The Fondazione Querini Stampalia will showcase Luigi Ferrigno’s Photographic Notes, curated by Lorenza Bravetta until March 31, while it will pay homage to Ukrainian painter Kabakov from April 13 and host the solo exhibition of Yoo Youngkuk, a pioneer of Korean modern art, from April 16.
Marcel Duchamp’s ‘The Seduction of the Copy’ continues through March 18 at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, while Jean Cocteau’s ‘The Juggler’s Revenge’ opens on April 13.
Palazzo Grassi is to host two unmissable exhibitions starting March 17. A new exhibition by Pierre Huyghe, curated by Anne Stenne, in partnership with the Leeum Museum of Art in Seoul, while the major exhibition project dedicated to artist Julie Mehretu, curated by Caroline Bourgeois. ‘Song to the Siren’ by Edith Dekyndt will open in April at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi.
Important events in London
REBEL: 30 Years of London Fashion, sponsored by Alexander McQueen in collaboration with The British Fashion Council continues through February 11 at the London Design Museum.
On the other hand, ‘Yoko Ono Music of the Mind,’ in collaboration with Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf, John J. Studzinski CBE and Philip Guston, will be at Tate Modern London from February 15 to 25. Lastly, the Victoria and Albert Museum will host ‘Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto’ until February 25.
Must-see design events
This year there will also be the usual design and furniture-themed events. Maison&Objet, January 18 to 22, 2024 in Paris; Istanbul Furniture Fair, January 23 to 28; Oslo Design Fair, January 21 to 23; Frankfurt will host Ambiente, January 26 to 30, Light+Building, March 3 to 8, ISH, March 17 to 21, 2024.
Stockholm Furniture Fair, on the other hand, will be held from February 6 to 10, while from February 27 to 28 it is the turn of Workspace Design Show, the trade show dedicated to workplace furniture and technology.
MIFF – Malaysia International Furniture is scheduled for March 1 to 4, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur.
EFE, the Malaysian trade fair dedicated to export, will be held from March 5 to 8.
Ifex Indonesia will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, from February 29 to March 3.
Klimahouse 2024 will be held from January 31 to February 3.
Lastly, Style Bangkok returns from March 20-24, 2024
