Brazilian architect Leo Romano took part in Casacor Sao Paulo 2019 with “Magic Walls” (Paredes Magicas), a project that uses living space horizontally and vertically.
“Magic Walls” is a loft with an area of 100 square meters and very high ceilings, which houses a large living room with open kitchen and dining area, a loft study area, the bedroom and bathroom split in two floors.
Thanks to the idea of allocating functions within MDF “boxes”, space is better used, and the living area is enlarged. Walls and ceiling are covered with metal, which creates a “container” effect.
“Paredes Magicas”
The different rooms, both on the loft and on the ground floor, are therefore contained in painted and stacked MDF “boxes”; the space is thus larger and organized, and it is no coincidence that Leo Romano called the house “Paredes Magicas” (Magic Walls). The walls of the “boxes” become additional furnishing elements, simply by changing colour.
Best Brazilian design
Furniture includes several iconic pieces from Brazilian design, with products designed by Oscar Niemeyer, Claudia Moreira Salles, Giuseppe Scapinelli, Jorge Zalszupin, as well as art objects created by the artist Ieda Jardim.
Finally, to try to make the construction as sustainable as possible, all walls, ceilings and floors coverings and cladding are installed so that they can be reused after the end of the event.
